“Hello Cabo Verde” was founded by Tony Neves in 2006 in New Bedford, MA in the USA. It was established to serve as a center of business and trade where individuals could connect and network. The endeavor began with a variety of goals, including:
- Promote travel and tourism in Cape Verde
- Proliferate Cape Verdean culture primarily through visual arts and music
- Organize, advertise and consult to international expositions
- Organize, promote and conduct events for third parties
- Facilitate networking and socialization for business purposes
- Arrange and conduct special events for commercial, promotional or advertising purposes
- Expand education and opportunities for youth in Cape Verde
Hello Cabo Verde is interested in community involvement from all corners of the world. Early initiatives for the organization focused on brainstorming and planning. To develop the ideas generated, we have arranged meetings for and accompanied individual investors, organizations and groups (such as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth International Business Association, Western Connecticut State University, and the CV Care Association) on their trips to Cape Verde.
Through its work, Hello Cabo Verde has established links with certain important organizations in Cape Verde which can help facilitate the goals of the organization. The list includes: Cabo Verde Investmentos, Cape Verdean financial institutions, Chambers of Commerce, municipalities of Cape Verde, and Cape Verde’s business sector. In the US, the Cape Verdean Embassy in Washington, DC and the Consulate in Boston, the City of New Bedford, the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce and New Bedford Economic Development Council have also been supporters.
In the arena of arts and music, we have been a key coordinator for international artistes and groups to perform in all of the major music festivals of Cape Verde.
Upcoming events will focus on the development of specific markets between Cape Verde and the United States. Not only will there be positive results for the proprietors involved, but ultimately for the Cape Verdean and local US communities as well. The organization continuously strives to form connections between businesses, nonprofit organizations, and communities in the US and Cape Verde.
